He graduated with a double major in Economics and Business from Springfield College and began his professional career in the housing industry in 1996, working as a project supervisor. His discipline and focus kept him involved in all aspects of the business, working directly in the construction and engineering stages and the design, planning, permits, financing, and commercialization of the real estate developments of VRM Companies.

 

He has successfully supervised and managed the development and construction of several large-scale developments such as Los Palacios in Toa Alta (1,900 units), Palacios de Humacao (1,125 units), Plaza Los Palacios Shopping Center, Estancias de Los Artesanos (432 units), and more recently, Riviera. This latest project is a master-planned community between Guaynabo and Bayamón of approximately 1,008 units.

 

In recent years, Rojo has been actively involved in the diversification of VRM Companies, which has led the company to expand the presence of their developments in several US markets and the Dominican Republic. In addition, he and his associates have expanded their diversification through strategic capital investments, including Million Air San Juan Corp., an aviation services company, and Ron del Barrilito, the oldest rum brand in Puerto Rico, among other investments.

 

In addition to his role in VRM, Rojo’s concern for Puerto Rico has led him to become actively involved in important political and economic issues on the island. Since 2005, Rojo has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Builders of Puerto Rico, an important organization for which he was elected president in 2007. He served for two years as president, and today, he is still part of the board. In 2016, Rojo co-founded and is currently the president of “Bonistas del Patio”, which was created to defend the important capital base represented by the holders of local bonds in Puerto Rico. Rojo is also a member of the board of directors of the Puerto Rico Industrial Association and has also been active as a spokesperson for the Private Sector Coalition, leading several initiatives to protect and improve the commercial conditions of the private sector in Puerto Rico.

Mr. Rodriguez later joined Tensar Earth Technologies, an industry leader in geotechnical engineering solutions and geo-grid manufacturing, as a Sales Engineer for Latin America. This position provided Mr. Rodriguez the opportunity to utilize both his engineering and business school education while traveling and working in different Latin-American markets. Eventually, this led Mr. Rodríguez to Puerto Rico, where he was able to pursue his career goal in real estate development, and in 1995 he joined VRM Companies as a Partner and Project Manager. At this position, Rodriguez directly managed the development and construction of over 1,900 residential units in various master-planned communities throughout the south of Puerto Rico.

 

Mr. Rodriguez, as one of the managing partners, relocated to Florida in 2011 to head VRM’s expansion into the United States. In 2003, Mr. Rojo changed career paths by joining FEMBi Mortgage as Marketing Manager. He was later promoted to Executive Vice President of FEMBi where he was responsible for the mortgage banks’ Puerto Rico operations.

 

After 11 years in the mortgage banking industry, Mr. Rojo had the opportunity to join VRM Companies once again in 2014. He currently leads the group’s efforts in the Dominican Republic, where VRM has completed an 18 story 77 unit high-rise residential development and a 288 unit multi-family development. Mr. Rojo is currently developing another 288 unit multi-family development, plus another 72 unit apartment high rise. He is also involved in the day-to-day activities of the companies’ residential developments in Puerto Rico.

 

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Rojo actively participates in the Puerto Rico Builders Association board since 2014. Upon completing her undergraduate studies from Boston College, Lourdes returned to Puerto Rico to pursue an MBA Degree at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Soon after obtaining her master’s degree, Lourdes worked at a local accounting firm as an auditor. In 1994, Lourdes began working at VRM Companies as an assistant comptroller. After obtaining her CPA license in 1996, Lourdes was promoted to the position of Comptroller.

 

During the past thirty years, VRM Companies has developed into a Real Estate, Financing, and Investment Conglomerate. As Comptroller, Lourdes has been responsible for managing the accounting department for the past 22 years. This task entails managing personnel, compliance with various government agencies, communications with external auditors, developing and implementing internal controls, managing cash flow, preparing financial information for internal and external purposes, and implementing software transitions along with the company’s evolution. Under her leadership, the accounting records have been kept up to date and in compliance.

Comptroller

 

Upon completing her undergraduate studies from Boston College, Lourdes returned to Puerto Rico to pursue an MBA Degree at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Soon after obtaining her master’s degree, Lourdes worked at a local accounting firm as an auditor. In 1994, Lourdes began working at VRM Companies as an assistant comptroller. After obtaining her CPA license in 1996, Lourdes was promoted to the position of Comptroller.

 

During the past thirty years, VRM Companies has developed into a Real Estate, Financing, and Investment Conglomerate. As Comptroller, Lourdes has been responsible for managing the accounting department for the past 22 years. This task entails managing personnel, compliance with various government agencies, communications with external auditors, developing and implementing internal controls, managing cash flow, preparing financial information for internal and external purposes, and implementing software transitions along with the company’s evolution. Under her leadership, the accounting records have been kept up to date and in compliance.

 

 

 

 

Ing. Alexander Mujica

Alexander Mujica, P.E, graduated in 1997 with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

 

He is a professional Civil Engineer with over 20 years and has an excellent mix of business operations, construction management, and finance experience. He has executed complex multi-projects ranging from $5 million to $100 million. In addition, Mr. Mujica is well versed in contract negotiations, project estimating, value engineering, document preparation, building codes, and regulations.

 

In 1997 he worked as the design engineer for Modern Continental Construction Companies based in Boston, Massachusetts. At Modern Continental, he was in charge of multi-million-dollar contracts for various phases of constructing the “Big Dig” in the Boston Area.

 

After a few years, he returned to Puerto Rico to work as a Project Engineer and Project Manager for Levitt Homes Corporation, one of the biggest housing developers on the island. In 2008, he became Assistant Vice President of Operations, in charge of many complex projects around the metropolitan area. Projects included: site design, highway, bridge, potable water, and the construction of sanitary pump stations for many planned communities.

 

By being a member of the Builders Association of Puerto Rico, he serves on the infrastructure committee, which looks to improve and maintain reasonable regulations and expand relationships for the construction industry.

 

He joined VRM Companies in 2012, the leading construction development company on the island, and successfully completed Palacios del Sol, a 472 single-family units project in Humacao, Puerto Rico. He currently manages two housing projects in the eastern part of the island that provides safe and affordable housing to over 1,000 families while assisting in the day-to-day managerial decisions of the company. In 2017, he became a partner at VRM Companies.

 

Mr. Mujica is very passionate about the success of the company’s projects. His diverse experience and abilities in the construction industry will play a vital role in the expansion, diversification, and growth of VRM Companies.
